Iron and Manganese

What is iron?

Iron is one of the world's most abundant elements, a necessary nutrient for the human diet, and also one of the most useful materials in the world. In water however, it's a royal pain! If your water from the tap looks rusty, then it probably is, especially if you live on a private well.

What is manganese?

Beyond leaving stains on sinks, fixtures, and clothes, iron in your water imparts a metallic taste and smell most find to be rather unpleasant. It also can encourage the growth of iron reducing bacteria, causing further staining and slimes to form.

Are they dangerous?

As a needed nutrient in our diets, there is almost no possible way to overconsume iron from drinking water; for most people, the taste of such a high amount of iron would be insurmountable. However, water with iron can be challenging to drink even at lower levels. So why not clean your water and make sure it tastes clean and fresh?
